I chose Cameron because they are a global organisation with a highly engineered product range. The emphasis on quality drives the business, meaning that we use the highest quality materials, have some world-leading manufacturing processes and need to get the product perfect first time.
I joined the company as a Graduate Engineer and enjoy the working environment with a very comfortable, quiet, social, yet hard working office environment with a good work ethic. My role involves me rotating through two Engineering projects, the technical support team, the Valves Department and Business Improvements, spending approximately 3 months in each. In addition to this I have spent 3 weeks in Celle, Germany in our Subsea Control Module facility. In Celle I was tasked with formulating a new concept for a tool used subsea. This involved animating the running sequence using Inventor, and giving a presentation of the ideas to my managers which was very well received and has now been implemented within the company. I look forward to spending a month in Houston, Texas where I will work at HQ involved in Manifolds and on Connectors.
Currently I am a Business Improvements Engineer. I am responsible for compiling, prioritising and answering Business Improvement requests gathered during brainstorming sessions. In this way I create projects to address the issues raised. I enjoy a mix of completing projects myself and co-ordinating projects that I delegate to others.
I am on the IMechE's MPDS scheme and aspire to be a high quality chartered engineer with well-rounded experience and depth of knowledge in the Subsea Oil Industry. The scope of the rotations means I will have a good grounding in all aspects and will really help me develop in the future.
